The season got underway on Saturday despite withdrawals at the last minute.  Exwick and Beacon Knights withdrew from the Under 13 section and Ottery St Mary has withdrawn at Under 15 level.

At U-14 level there are 8 teams this season and West Exe Youth got off to a good start with a 1 – 0 win over Countess Wear Dynamoes. Central struggled at the start against Brixington United but eventually ran out 7 – 1 winners with Kenny Ord getting a hat-trick.  Simon Smiley scored 2 and there were singles for Iain Turner and Ed Williams.

At U-15 level there was a very good game at Hamlin Lane that saw Pinhoe Spartans share the points with Central AFC in a 1 – 1 draw.  Central missed an early penalty only to see Pinhoe take the lead through Matt Hesford but within 2 minutes Central equalised when Chris Eveleigh fired home. Uplowman took a 3 goal lead against Countess Wear Dynamoes but Dynamoes ran out 4 – 3 winners with 2 goals from Jamie Clow, a Paul Jarman penalty and a single from Aaron Libretto.  Twyford Spartans started in good form with a 7 – 1 victory over Beacon Knights. Broadclyst Sports Club played new boys Honiton Town and came out 3 – 1 winners.  Jon Privett scored 2 and Josh Rew 1.

The U-16 league is new this season with 10 teams competing.  Countess Wear Dynamoes played their part in a 10 goal thriller winning 6 – 4.  Charlie May grabbed a hat-trick, Liam Vanstone got a brace and Steven Hardisty got a single to secure the points for Dynamoes. Pinhoe were unlucky against Beacon Knights going down 2 – 0 at home but according to the Beacon Knights manager did not deserve to loose after having 70% of the play.  Knights scored early through Kevin Betlum and then scored near the end through Jim Kelly but apart from that Pinhoe were the better side. Exeter Civil Service played Crediton and the game was even at half time with both teams failing to find the net although Civil did hit the woodwork on 3 occasions.  The second half saw Civil grab the points with 3 goals.  Ryan Powell scored the first and also earned the man of the Match award, James Ibbeson hit a 30 yard screamer and Lawrence Khoo secured the 3 – 0 victory with a tap in.
